Is there a better time of year to go for a picnic than June? No, there isn’t! That was a rhetorical question. June is the correct answer.
The birds are chirping, the sky is clear, the grass is soft and NOT muddy… everyone is excited about the novelty of warm weather after the end of our seven-month winter and not yet so exhausted by the three months of never-ending 90 degree humidity that they want to stay inside in the air conditioning… It’s June alright!
But why am I talking about this? Because this month (which is June, coincidentally), the Friends of the Library are raffling off a picnic basket full of goodies to treat you and a friend or two to a lovely day out. Or many days out! Literally everything you need for a picnic is in this basket – plates, silverware, cups, a citronella candle, a cutting board, a blanket, salt and pepper shakers… everything but the food and drink!
Tickets for this raffle are the usual, $1 for 1 ticket, $5 for 6 tickets, and $10 for 15 tickets. The drawing will be on July 1, so stop in soon! Already have a picnic basket? That’s okay, this would make a great gift!
While you’re here buying raffle tickets, be sure to get your MidYork Library System Road Trip map and start earning prizes! Just by signing up for this event you can win a backpacking kit, for kids or adults, all for free! And you get a temporary tattoo! And a cool stamp!
Thank you for reading, see you when you get here.
