Well, I guess the cat’s partially out of the bag. This summer, the Hamilton Public Library, along with the Earlville Free Library, the Lebanon Community Club, the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District, the MidYork Library System, and the Friends of the Hamilton Public Library are all joining forces to bring Lebanon their very own Summer Reading Program!
I say “the cat’s out of the bag” because at Lebanon’s recent Easter celebration attendees were given ‘save the date’ bookmarks for this summer’s activities, so now seems like a good time to discuss it in this column. While plans are still being finalized, here’s what we know so far:
On Tuesdays starting July 2 and ending August 20, from 10 am to noon, there will be special events, free books, giveaways, prizes, crafts, snacks, programs, and more! This will all be held at the Lebanon Community Center, which happens to be home to one of the cutest Little Free Libraries in the area. Some of the performers include STEAMWorks, Jeff the Magic Man, the Pet Mobile, and more! Look for a full calendar of events in June.
The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program is ‘A Universe of Stories,’ and we’ll be bringing you loads of programs and activities that are truly ‘out of this world.’ I could spend the rest of this column on space puns, but let’s just move on.
For more information, talk to me or Shari Taylor, Director of the Earlville Free Library. Of course, Shari and I are busy planning our own Summer Reading Programs at Earlville and Hamilton, so be on the lookout for more information about both of those as well.
In case you wanted a sneak peak at what the Hamilton Public Library has planned for our Summer Reading Program, word on the street is we’ll be showing Every. Single. Star Wars Movie! Well, not Solo and Rogue One, just the episodic movies, but still. Bring your popcorn.
As always, thanks for reading!
