What’s new at the Hamilton Public Library this week? Well, it’s not about “what,” it’s about “who.” And since I forgot to make an announcement welcoming our last new employee, there are actually TWO new “whos” to tell you about!
Our first New Who is our youngest team member and Hamilton Central School district sophomore Cassie Marks. Cassie started as a Library Page in January and has so far been enjoying her first job experience. When asked what she likes best about working at the library, she said she likes working with the public. Good answer, Cassie! While she doesn’t quite know what she wants to be in the future, Cassie does plan on attending college.
Our second New Who is our new Part Time Library Clerk and lifelong Hamilton resident Dan Ahrens. As graduate of Hamilton Central School, Dan has been so active in the community he almost needs no introduction. But there is a minimum word requirement for this column, so I’m including one anyway! If Dan’s name sounds familiar, it may be because you’ve seen him as the Projectionist at the Hamilton Movie Theater. Or a Substitute Teacher at Hamilton Central School. Or as Assistant Manager in the Seven Oaks Clubhouse for almost a decade! In addition to all that work experience, Dan holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of Richmond.
So if you haven’t already, make sure you stop in and give a warm welcome to Cassie and Dan, who are both settling in nicely into their new jobs and are great additions to our staff.
Oh, and before I forget, the question on everyone’s mind: What are these new people reading? When pressed for favorite books, both Dan and Cassie couldn’t name just one, but Cassie’s favorite author is R.L. Stine. As for Dan, he prefers David Mitchell, Joseph Heller, and George R.R. Martin, to name a few.
Thanks for reading.
