Calling all bakers! The Friends of the Hamilton Public Library are looking for baked goods for their Election Day Bake Sale and – I’m sorry – I’ve spent the last two hours troubleshooting something fairly insignificant but very frustrating. If you’re not familiar with ‘stories’ on social media, they’re quick little 24-hour advertisements that the library uses to share information about upcoming events. For some reason Instagram and Facebook are no longer communicating in an effective way to share the same story across platforms.
I don’t know when this problem started or why the Hamilton Public Library Instagram stories are now being shared on my personal Facebook page, but they are, and that seems to be the only thing I can figure out. Of course, I didn’t figure this all out on my own, I had help from the very kind and generous folks over at Scrap Paper Social to whom I may or may not owe a lunch. Hopefully by the time you’re reading this, the problem has been sorted out and I can return to a simpler time when press releases didn’t include two-paragraph digressions on Instagram stories.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, the Election Day Bake Sale! For the first time in six years, the Friends are holding a Bake Sale on (what is promising to be a very busy) Election Day right here at your local polling location – the Hamilton Public Library! If you are interested to bake a tasty treat, please drop off donations on Monday, November 5 or during the election on Tuesday, November 6. You can sign up to bring something at the circulation desk between now and the 5th or just show up with goodies. Just please do not make cookies that support any specific candidates – those will be eaten by Library Staff so as not to participate in electioneering.
