Attention: Big changes ahead – proceed with caution!
This year’s Book Sale organized by the Friends of the Hamilton Public Library will be limited to books for children. The Friends of the Library believe that their limited space and resources are best devoted to providing materials for younger readers.
The newly re-branded Children’s Book Sale will take place at the Library on Friday, August 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, September 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Almost all items will be priced at $1 or less.
Persons who wish to donate materials for the Children’s Book Sale are welcome to drop off items at the Library during opening hours from August 13 to 24. We welcome books in good condition for children and teens as well as DVDs, CDs, computer games and puzzles. Please do not leave materials at the Library outside of those dates and times.
All proceeds from the sale will go to supporting programs and facilities at the Hamilton Public Library, especially those for children.
Please note that although this year’s Book Sale will be limited to children’s books, the Library has an ongoing sale of all types of used books in the vestibule inside the front entrance.
So why the need for this change? We have come to lack the space and resources needed to conduct a full-range book sale. We do not have space to store books, which means that all books need to be received and sorted on-site during a short period of time. This is quite a demanding undertaking. Also, we no longer have a way to responsibly dispose of the many books that are left after the sale.
Your generosity and cooperation are appreciated!
