Summer Reading Program 2018 Kickoff Party Kicks Off!

Do you like ice cream?  And free books? And a chance to win tickets to Enchanted Forest Water Safari?  Oh, and also reading? Well you’re in luck! On June 25 at 2:00 we have our annual Summer Reading Program Kickoff Ice Cream Social that features ALL of those things!

I know I’ve been talking about this party in this here column for about a month now, but it’s a big deal!  Every week more businesses donate more raffle prizes, door prizes, and food for events. This week we received donations from the 4th Wall Comics & Collectables, Byrne Dairy, Enchanted Forest Water Safari, Flour and Salt Bakery, Hamilton Area Community Coalition, Friends of the Hamilton Public Library, the Hamilton Movie Theater, Lotus Salon and Spa, Ravenswood Comics, Utica Children’s Museum, and Ye Olde Landmark Tavern!

Stop in and ask how you can win amazing prizes just for reading or attending programs!  Programs such as Monday Morning Movies, Steamworks Ability Labs on Fridays, Storytimes on Tuesdays, Messy Kid Art, Rock Painting, and weekly performances and special presentations!  There’s also adulting courses for teens, music lectures, book clubs, writing clubs, crafts, and much, much more.

We have Summer Reading Program calendars and information here at the library, swing by and get one to start planning your summer.  You don’t need a library card to participate, but if you sign up for one, you get a free ice cream from Maxwell’s (which is something we offer year-round) which is pretty great!  And since we eliminated late fees and set up auto-renewals on most library materials, there’s very little reason NOT to have a library card these days. See you when you get here.
