Since it’s probably too early to talk about the Summer Reading Program, the theme of which is “Libraries Rock” and begins on June 25, I suppose we can talk about something happening on May 25 instead. Not that we’re not excited for the program on May 25, it’s just that the Summer Reading Program is an all-consuming beast of a program that makes it really difficult to focus on anything else. For example, today, after filing paperwork after last night’s Board of Trustees meeting (held every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. and open to the public), I went out in the rain and delivered letters to local businesses. Each letter asks the owner or manager of the establishment to donate something (raffle prizes or food at events) to our Summer Reading Program. So far, only an hour into this process, we received gift certificates to Hamilton Whole Foods and Oliveri’s Pizza, so thank you very much! And everyone else that was approached at least gave me a “maybe,” so thanks to them in advance (wink wink).
But I’m not here to talk about the Summer Reading Program, regardless of the excellent raffle prizes we’re likely to have. I’m here to tell you about a new book group, the “Chillest Book Club Ever” at The Rye Berry Bakery & Cafe on Friday, May 25 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Why is it so chill? Instead of the club focusing on one book, this one focuses on any book you’re reading right now! Come prepared to talk to other like-minded – and possibly even different-minded – individuals about what you’re reading, watching, listening to, or playing. Cry about characters. Make new friends! Oh, and coffee will be provided by the fine folks at The Rye Berry. Thanks to Rye Berry for helping make this happen!
